HistoryEstablished in 1975 by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, ISKCON Vrindavan, also known as Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, was the first temple to be constructed by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in India. It was built to fulfill Prabhupada's vision of creating a global center for Vedic learning.Deity & SignificanceThe temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his elder brother Balaram. It is considered one of the most significant and famous temples in Uttar Pradesh, housing three altars: Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Sri Krishna-Balaram, and Sri Sri Radha-Shyamasundar with Lalita and Vishakha.ArchitectureThe temple is a masterpiece of white marble architecture, featuring intricate carvings, grand archways, and a large central courtyard. The structure blends traditional Indian styles with modern craftsmanship, highlighted by the presence of a sacred Tamal tree in the courtyard.FacilitiesThe complex provides various facilities including a comfortable guesthouse, a library, and the popular Govinda’s vegetarian restaurant. There is also a museum dedicated to the life of the founder and a gift shop selling spiritual books and accessories.Best Time to VisitThe best time to visit is between October and March when the weather is cool. Major festivals like Janmashtami, Radhashtami, and Holi are celebrated with immense fervor and are ideal for spiritual seekers.Points to RememberVisitors should dress modestly and maintain a peaceful decorum.
