Origin and Spiritual RelevanceThe Khatu Shyam Mandir Khatu is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Barbarika, the grandson of Bhima from the Mahabharata. Lord Krishna, impressed by his sacrifice, bestowed a boon allowing him to be worshipped by Krishna's own name, Shyam, in the Kaliyuga era. Devotees believe that the deity possesses the power to fulfill the wishes of those who visit with true faith.Darshan TimingsThe temple timings generally vary by season. During winters, darshan is available from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In the summer months, the temple opens earlier at 4:30 AM until 12:30 PM, and reopens from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. On special occasions like Ekadashi, the temple may remain open for 24 hours.Major FestivalsThe most significant festival is the Phalguna Mela, held just before Holi. During this time, the town is filled with millions of devotees carrying 'Nishans' (holy flags).
