This volcanic plateau is renowned for its unique biodiversity and is part of the Sahyadri Sub-cluster of the Western Ghats.Landscape FeaturesThe Kaas Plateau garden features a vast expanse of laterite crust that transforms into a vibrant carpet of wildflowers during the monsoon. Visitors can see endemic species like the Kaas Pathar flowers, orchids, and insectivorous plants such as Drosera Indica, alongside the picturesque Kaas Lake.FacilitiesTo preserve the ecosystem, facilities are kept eco-friendly. There are designated parking areas, marked walking paths to prevent trampling of flora, and local stalls offering traditional Maharashtrian cuisine. Forest guards and guides are available to assist visitors.Best Time to VisitThe ideal period to visit is from late August to early October. This is when the floral diversity is at its peak, and the entire plateau is covered in shifting hues of pink, yellow, and purple.Visitor NotesTo protect the site, entry is limited and requires online registration. It is a strictly no-plastic zone. Visitors must stay on the designated walkways to avoid damaging the fragile ecosystem and are prohibited from picking flowers.
