HistoryThe Siddhivinayak Temple was originally consecrated on November 19, 1801. It was constructed by Laxman Vithu and funded by Deubai Patil, a devotee who wished for Ganesha to grant children to other childless women. Over two centuries, it has evolved from a small 3.6m x 3.6m shrine into one of India’s most visited and wealthiest spiritual landmarks.Deity & SignificanceThe temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, specifically the 'Siddhivinayak' form (the Granter of Desires). The idol is unique as its trunk turns to the right, signifying power and sanctity. Carved from a single piece of black stone, Ganesha is flanked by Riddhi and Siddhi, goddesses representing holiness and prosperity.ArchitectureThe modern complex features a six-story structure with a gold-plated central dome. The wooden doors are intricately carved with images of the Ashtavinayak, while the inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, reflecting a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.Facilities and Best Time to VisitAs one of the premier Prabhadevi attractions, the temple provides organized queues, prasad counters, and shoe stalls.
