BackgroundBuilt in 1632 AD by Ali Mardan Khan, the governor of Emperor Shah Jahan, Chashme Shahi is a gem among gardens in Jammu and Kashmir. Commissioned for Prince Dara Shikoh, this garden is celebrated for its natural spring, which was discovered by the saint Rupa Bhawani. It stands as the smallest yet most artistically refined of the three Mughal gardens in Srinagar.Landscape FeaturesThe garden is split across three terraces, showcasing classic Persian influence. The highlight is the natural spring that flows into a marble basin and descends through a series of water chutes known as chadars. The architecture includes stone-carved fountains, vibrant flower beds, and lush lawns that offer a panoramic view of Dal Lake.FacilitiesVisitors have access to well-maintained walkways, public restrooms, and seating areas.
